Overview

The Data Fetcher plugin for Obsidian allows users to dynamically fetch data from various external sources directly within their notes. It supports fetching from REST APIs, GraphQL endpoints, RPC services, and gRPC services (via REST proxies). Fetched data is displayed within the note and can be cached to improve performance and reduce redundant requests.

Key Features:

  • Multiple Data Source Types: Supports REST, GraphQL, gRPC (proxy), and RPC.

  • Flexible Query Definition:

    • Define queries directly within data-query code blocks using JSON.
    • Predefine endpoint configurations (URL, headers, type, etc.) in settings and reference them using aliases (@alias-name) within code blocks.
  • Caching: Automatically caches successful query results based on a configurable duration.

  • Manual Refresh: Allows manual refreshing of individual data blocks or all blocks in a note.

  • Customizable Headers: Supports setting custom HTTP headers for requests, useful for authentication (e.g., API keys, Bearer tokens).
