Overview

Perplexica is an open-source, AI-powered search engine designed to provide accurate and comprehensive answers by searching the internet. Inspired by Perplexity AI, it utilizes large language models (LLMs) and advanced search techniques like similarity searching and embeddings to process user queries, retrieve relevant information from the web, and generate cited answers.

The application integrates with the SearxNG metasearch engine to fetch up-to-date search results while prioritizing privacy and open-source principles. It supports various LLM providers (including local models via Ollama) and offers different search focus modes to cater to specific query types (e.g., Academic, YouTube, Reddit).

Key technologies include Next.js for the frontend and API, Langchain for orchestrating AI interactions, Drizzle ORM for database management (SQLite), and SearxNG for web searching.
